Boys Volleyball

defeated Heritage HS, Granada HS and Jesuit HS before falling to Sanger HS to finish 3rd in the East County Invitational.

Boys Lacrosse

suffered their first defeat of the season to Redwood HS.

Freshman Baseball

split a doubleheader with Miramonte HS.

Mar 18 – JV Boys Lacrosse

After starting off 4-0 the men’s JV lacrosse team lost to a skilled Redwood team 11-3 on Saturday.

Mar 17 – Girls Lacrosse vs. Miramonte

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady Dons led most of the game to league rival Miramonte but fell short in the final minutes, 9-8.

The Lady Dons shut down the Mats top players and goalie Jamie Wendt had another stellar night with 9 saves. Susie Bush and Marcy Morse lead the team with 2 goals each. Julia Mueller had 1 goal and 3 draw controls. Also contributing  with a goal each were Emma Workman, Anna deRoque and Sydney Louie. The JV team staged a late game comeback to beat the Mats in the last minute in a exciting game!

Both teams return to action Monday night vs College Park at home. JV 5:30 and Varsity 7pm.

In Friday’s action…

Boys Lacrosse

remains undefeated following an 11-3 victory over Miramonte HS raising their overall record to 6-0 and their DAL record to 5-0.

Girls Lacrosse

was locked in a game that was very close from start to finish. They took the lead early, but the Matadors battled back to take the lead in the second half. The Dons mounted their own rally scoring twice in the last minutes to tie the score, but surrendered the winning score with seconds left to fall 9-8 in their first lost in the DAL. The jv team fell behind early 5-1, but rallied to tie the score in the final minutes. Maile Broad fired the winning goal with 52 seconds remaining and the teams outstanding late defense secured the 13-12 victory.

JV Boys Golf

dropped a close match to Campolindo HS.

put together a complete game to shutout Bear Creek HS 9-0.  The freshman team pulled out a 3-1 victory and the jv team dropped a close 2-1 decision.

was defeated by College Park HS.

Thursday’s individual standouts…

Varsity Baseball

Josh Candau threw a 1-hitter through 5-2/3 innings and Kevin McConnell finished out the game striking out the side in the last inning.  Will Rembac had 4 hits and Ty Ewing had 3 hits to drive in 3 runs.  Cole Gallagher and Daniel Kim each had 2 hits.

JV Baseball

Eddie Burns and Kade Shipp delivered outstanding pitching performances as they did not allow an earned run through all 7 innings.

Freshman Baseball

John Kalil threw 5 innings allowing only 1 run and Owen Hansen recorded the final 6 outs for the save.  Ben Fromer and Cole Murgia each collected 2 hits.

Boys Tennis

Cole Brightbill & AJ Hesby, Henry Huchingson & Andrew Tso and Aidan Alagappan & Clay Schmidt won doubles matches.

Mar 16 – Baseball Results

Varsity:

The Don’s varsity shut out Bear Creek 9-0 after a masterful pitching performance by Josh Candau who only allowed a bunt single in 5 and 2/3rd innings. Kevin McConnell pitched an inning and a 3rd and struck out the side to end it. Offensively, Matt Burns doubled in a run to give the Don’s their first lead in the 5th inning. Will Rembac had 4 hits, and Ty Ewing drove in 3 runs with a 3 hit game. Daniel Kim and Cole Gallagher both had 2 hits as the Don’s Varsity improves to 2 -3.

JV:

The Don’s JV lost 2-1 despite a solid pitching from Eddie Burns and Kade Shipp who did not allow any earned runs over 7 innings.

Frosh:

The Don’s Frosh beat Bear Creek 3-1 behind a solid pitching effort by John Khalil who pitched 5 innings and allowed just one run. Owen Hansen recorded the final 6 outs for the save. At the plate for the Don’s, Cole Murgia and Ben Fromer each collected 2 hits as the Don’s Frosh improve to 4-2.

Mar 14 – Mens Varsity Lacrosse Keep Win Streak Alive Beating College Park 11-1

Acalanes hosted College Park Tuesday night. After a slow start that saw both teams tied 1-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Dons rattled off 10 unanswered goals to take the contest 11-1 and remain unbeaten in Conference play at 5-0.

Mar 14 – Boys JV Lacrosse

Boys JV Lacrosse

The men’s JV lacrosse team improved to 4-0 Tuesday night with an 11-1 thrashing of College Park.

Dominate defense in the 1 quarter held College Park to 1 shot which was easily saved by goalie Oliver Rotundo. Tucker Loughran-Smith was fed by Ben Clark and Brooks Thibault for goals.  Cole Shoenheide delivered a big hit to cause a turnover in which Charlie Bettencourt took advantage and scored a goal for a quick 3-0 lead.

In the second quarter Carson Burill who would end the night with 4 ground ball fast breaks, picked up a ground ball traveled coast to coast and finished with a goal.  The defense continued their dominance and allowed for just one shot in the second quarter and the Dons led 8-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Robert Montoya forced his 1st of four ground balls, which was picked up by Loughran-Smith for his 5th goal of the night.  Later in 4th Loughran-Smith fed Montoya for his first goal of the night.

The team will play at Miramonte on Friday night at 5:30pm and Saturday @ Redwood High School at 2pm.

In Tuesday’s action…

Boys Lacrosse

defeated College Park HS convincingly 11-1.  The JV team did likewise.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse

defeated Ygnacio Valley HS.  The JV team recorded a 17-2 victory.

Baseball

dropped a close 4-2 game to Amador Valley HS.  The JV team was also defeated.

has a meet at Miramonte HS at 3:30.
