The JV Dons took advantage of some sloppy defense from the Ugly Eagles in the first inning and never looked back.  After Trey Roberts reached on an error and Isaiah Castillo singled, Will Feinstein hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Roberts for the first run of the game.  After Aiden Jeffery walked, Mateo Valenzuela singled to left field to put the JV Dons up 2-0.  Next up was Jack Patel, who singled to load the bases.  Bryce Long then hit a sharp ground ball and reached on an error by the second baseman, scoring Jeffery.  Landon Page was hit by a pitch, scoring Valenzuela and making it 4-0.  Then Stone Jaquet doubled on a line drive to left-center, scoring Patel and Long to make it 6-0 Dons after one.

The Dons added one run in the third inning and another run in the fifth. Meanwhile, the Clayton Valley JV team were stymied all day long by Dons pitcher Grant Matter, who frustrated batters by hitting the edges of the strike zone and not giving Clayton Valley anything down the middle.  The sophomore pitched six solid innings for the Dons, scattering five hits and giving up only two earned runs while striking out two. Isaiah Castillo pitched a scoreless seventh inning to put the game away.

At the plate, the JV Dons were lead by Mateo Valenzuela (2-4, 1 Run, 1 RBI), Jack Patel (2-3, 1 Run), Bryce Long (1-3, 3 Runs, 1 RBI), Landon Page (2-2, 2 RBI) and Stone Jaquet (1-3, 2 RBI).  The Dons collected 9 hits and had one of their best offensive games of the season.

Mateo Valenzuela pitched a complete game shutout to lead the JV Dons to victory in their final game of the season.  The freshman right-hander pitched seven strong innings, gave up zero runs on only four hits, and struck out one.  Valenzuela was supported by the Dons strong defense throughout the game.  For only the second time this season, the JV Dons committed zero errors.  Fun fact:  the other game in which they committed zero errors was also a game they won!

The Dons opened up the scoring in the fourth inning when Aiden Jeffery was hit by a pitch, Mateo Valenzuela singled, and John Cuddihy walked to load the bases.  Luca Starczewski then grounded into a fielder’s choice to put the JV Dons up 1-0.

Mateo Valenzuela lead off the top of the sixth by crushing a double to left-center.  Bryce Long then walked and Landon Page singled to right.  With the bases loaded, Stone Jaquet slapped a single over the shortstop’s head, scoring Valenzuela and Long to give the Dons a 3-0 lead.  That’s all the Dons needed as they defeated the Ugly Eagles by the score of 3-0 to end their 2026 season on a two game winning streak!
