This weekend’s NCS Dual Tournament ended with a fierce Acalanes- Albany battle. The final match of the tournament left us feeling fired up. Sophomore Lilah Kring faced Albany’s 127-pound wrestler for the fourth time this season after coming up short in their previous three matchups. This time, Lilah flipped the script, battling deep into the third period before securing a clutch pin for a massive head-to-head victory. A statement win heading into NCS Division seeding in just two weeks.
Our prior day matches weren’t as successful, the cold and flu season caught up with Acalanes Wrestling at the worst possible time this past week. We went into the NCS Duals sick and injured, battling more than just worthy opponents. Missing several top wrestlers for various reasons, including senior captains Kirian Gracie and Marley Oh we knew we’d have to grind for every point.
We had an opportunity to avenge a regular-season loss against Miramonte, but apparently we skipped the coffee Saturday morning, because it showed in a not-so-sweet defeat to Miramonte. Still, not all was lost. Ryan Crane delivered a stellar performance, earning a huge win by pinfall and bringing some much needed momentum to the mat.
This week, we host the DAL League Championship on Saturday. Come on down to watch some high-energy wrestling, cheer on our grapplers, and grab some great food from Olfie’s. Let’s pack the house, bring the heat and make some NOISE!
Let’s GO DONS!
