Day one of the Meet of Champions was warm and windy, and our Acalanes athletes gave it their all on Friday. While some saw their track season end in the preliminaries, we had several outstanding performances from athletes advancing to the MOC Championship Finals today (Saturday 5/12) at Dublin High School.

Deonte Littlejohn took 3rd place in Shot Put with a throw of 53-09.5, advancing to the CIF state meet next Friday.

River Lockwood won his heat in the 300 hurdles and advanced to finals, running 39.02, the second fastest time of the day and his personal best time in the event breaking, the Acalanes all-time record set in 2008.

And while River was smashing records in the hurdles, Jackson Boselli stepped in to take his place anchoring the boys 4×400 team (with Julian Hood, Matthew Schwarz, Benjamin Mickelson) who ran a season’s best 3:21.76, advancing to finales and earning the #3 spot on the Acalanes record board.

To start the meet, the boys 4×100 Relay (Matthew Schwarz, Illias Kaplanes-Jones, Jackson Boselli, and River Lockwood) advanced to finals as the sixth seed, running 42.2.

Also competing in the finals on Saturday:

Deonte Littlejohn: Discus

Miles Moore: Pole Vault

Illias Kaplanes-Jones: Long Jump

Asha Sekhon: Unified Long Jump

Sylvie Merrill: Unified Long Jump

Best of luck to our Acalanes athletes at the MOC finals!
