Winning is definitely more fun than losing—just ask the Acalanes Girls Lacrosse Team, who snapped a four-game losing streak with a well-earned 14-8 victory over University! It’s safe to say the team was ready for a win, and they came out swinging.
The team’s offensive success was led by senior Megan Churchill and sophomore Grace Colaco, who each scored 4 goals. Juniors Emily Roberts and Charlotte Gellman were also key contributors, with 2 goals apiece, while senior Campbell Evans and junior Maya Stafford added 1 goal each.
In addition to her goal-scoring, senior Churchill played a crucial role with 2 assists, and Colaco, Roberts, Stafford, junior Reese Imrie and sophomore Grace Eppinger each registered 1 assist. The team’s success in securing possession off the draw played a vital role in their offensive execution. Colaco was dominant in the draw circle, collecting 9 draw controls, with senior Lucca DiBiasse adding 3. Imrie, Stafford, and senior Taylor Mikalis each secured 2 draw controls.
On defense, senior Claire Zimmerman brought the hustle with a standout performance including a few big runs down field, while goalie, junior Sarah Hession, made 4 key saves to keep University at bay.
Overall, Acalanes’ balanced scoring, draw control dominance, and defensive grit were key to their 14-8 victory over University.
