Varsity Baseball Loses to Benicia

The Varsity Baseball team lost to Benicia on Tuesday, 8-1. The boys suffered their first home loss of the season. Jake Colaco started on the mound for the Dons and lasted 1.2 innings before he was relieved by Branson Smith. Branson went 2.1 innings and gave up 4 hits, a walk and a run in his 9th appearance of the year.

Smith was relieved by Austin Mc Manamon. Austin pitched .2 innings and gave up a hit, a walk and an earned run. He was replaced by Brady Quinn, who had a nice outing. Brady went 1.1 innings and gave up no runs and no hits in his 3rd appearance of the season.

Jack Giorgianni finished things off for the Dons on the hill and gave up no earned runs in the 7th frame. The ball was not bouncing the boys way for the second straight game. Acalanes committed a season high 5 errors and just did not look like themselves on Tuesday. That will happen over the long season. Third baseman Gavin Bender led the team with 2 hits. Left fielder Everett Glass also had a hit and a stolen base.

The Dons head to Benicia today for a rematch with the Panthers as the team tries to right the ship. The boys still proudly boast an impressive 17-2 record. It’s time to start another winning streak today. All hands in the middle. Let’s Go Dons!
