Track Competes, Records Broken, Incredible Performances in Abundance

In the past week the Acalanes Track & Field team competed vs Las Lomas and participated in the San Ramon Valley Sprint & Field Festival and at the Dublin Distance Fiesta.  Busy week. It is impossible to call out all of the outstanding individual and team performances, full results can be seen at Athletic.net and on Remind, some highlights include:

Trevor Rogers won the Long Jump vs Las Lomas and at the Sprint & Field Festival, ultimately setting  the school record (again) in the long jump in an incredible 24′ 2.5″, good for 1st in the state.  Trevor also won the 200m at both events, setting a PR and second best in ACA history 21.93, and placed 2nd in the 100m at the Sprint Festival setting another PR and another second best in ACA history.  In his spare time Trevor high jumped 6′ and ran strong legs on the winning 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.

Dulci Vail, fresh off of an incredible basketball season, won the high jump in a personal best, second best in ACA history, and t-3 in the state 5’7″.

Paul Kuhner, despite being beset with illness, won the 100m at at Las Lomas and San Ramon and, as normal,  ran a strong 4×100 anchor leg at San Ramon helping the team (Littlejohn, Glick, Rogers, Kuhner)  to a season best 42.89, 5th best in ACA history.  Paul currently holds the #1 all-time spots in the 100m and 200m.

Olivia Williams won the 1600m and 3200m vs. Las Lomas and then had great performances at the Dublin Distance Fiesta, setting a season record in the 1600 at 5:06.38 followed up with a fast 3200 at 10:46.97 for one of the strongest combined individual performances at Dublin this year.

Natalie Lyons won the long jump at 17′ 7.25″ and the 100m in a season best 12.97 vs. Las Lomas and ran the opening leg in the girls winning 4×100 meter relay team (Lyons, Chelemedos, Tarsa, Hiatt) who finished with a season best 51.61.

River Lockwood (So) won the 100m high hurdles and 300m high high hurdles vs. Las Lomas, with an especially notable last 20 meter come-from-behind finish in the 100 highs.

Haley Chelemedos placed second at San Ramon in the high jump at 5’0, and, at Las Lomas, finished second in the 100 meters at 13.26, second in the shotput at PR 29′ 3.5″ and second in the high jump along with running leg two in the 4×100 meter relay win.

Deonte Littlejohn (So) won the shotput against Las Lomas with a season best toss of 42.95′, took 3rd in the discuss and also ran strong legs in the winning 4×100 relay team at San Ramon where he also had top 5 and 10 performances in the shotput and discuss respectively.

Megan Yee won the 800m and placed second in the 400m vs Las Lomas and then ran a very strong 800M in 2:25.01 and a season best 5:12.67 in the 1600 meters at Dublin.

Ace Reeder won the triple jump at 39′ 3.5″ and took third in the long jump at 20′ .75″ against Las Lomas and followed up with a strong 38′ 11.5″ for fifth at San Ramon.

Neve Murphy placed second in the 3200m and fourth in a PR 1:05.21 in the 400m vs. Las Lomas and then blazed a 2:21.97 800m and 5:13.30 in the 1600m.

Illias Kaplances Jones (So) placed second in the long jump at Las Lomas at 20’3″ and second in San Ramon at 21-0.5″ and ran a PR 23.96 200m at San Ramon.

Other Highlights–

Olivia Williams (5:06.38), Megan Yee (5:12.67), Neve Murphy (5:13.30), Anju Sekhon (5:33.66) and Cameron Powell (5:48.43) easily had the best 1600 team performance in the 1600 meters at Dublin.

100m sweep vs. Las Lomas–Paul Kuhner 10.94, Collin Glick PR 11.43 (improved to 11.37 at San Ramon) and Matthew Schwarz (So) 11.50

200m sweep vs. Las Lomas–Trevor Rogers 22.19, Matthew Schwarz 23.73 and Faisal Nabulsi PR 23.93
