Track Season Starts Strong For Distance Runners

In the first annual Trial of Miles, kicking off the track and field session for our distance runners, Acalanes girls and boys teams shined against visitors from Piedmont and Archie Williams.

Sophomore Nevis Murphy started the year right for the Lady Dons with a victory and personal best in the 1600 meters with a winning time of 5:15.16 and was closely followed by Acalanes multi-record holder Olivia Williams who cruised to second place in 5:19.34.  The girls also had strong showings from Anju Sekhon and Cameron Powell, finishing 4th and 6th respectively in 5:48.18 and .5:48.78.  Very safe to say that not many high schools in the state have 4 sub-6 minute 1600 meter runners, with two pushing sub 5 minute times!

The boys team was led by senior Logan Farzan who placed second in the 1600 in a quick start for the year at 4:31.44 followed with a strong showing from sophomore Harry Zimmerman at 4:50.96 and teammates Dashiell Tinianow, Sam Adams and Nathan Joseph.

Track returns for the full team (mostly) Saturday with Don of the Season scrimmage at San Ramon Valley.
