JV Girls Soccer Rolls Campo 5-0

I heard from some disgruntled fans last night who were disappointed that I haven’t included any soccer trivia recently like the history of the game/field/ball, viewership, terminology, women in the sport, etc. Not sure if this counts, but I did hear that the Warner Bros. TV CEO recently said that Ted Lasso may get renewed for a 4th season.  Perhaps heeding Ted Lasso’s words that “if God would have wanted games to end in a tie, she wouldn’t have invented numbers”, the Girls JV soccer team came out and dominated a 2-8-1 Campo team, cruising to a 5-0 victory.

This game was never in question as the Dons scored early and often.  It began with a corner kick from Dani Green, who kicked a beautiful ball that was converted into a goal by Kate Uffelman.  Dani scored the goal #2 for the Dons on a long breakaway drive down the field.  Elodie Jensen scored goal #3 on a great maneuver around the defender and shot from distance.  Maddie Bernstein got goal number #4 on a loose ball near the goal.  Grace Eppinger scored the Dons last goal on a beautiful ball she buried into the back of the top corner of the net.

Elodie Jensen (#8) scores!

The defense pitched a shutout for the second game in a row.  Although the Dons dominated possession, there were several instances where the defense had to step up to preserve the shutout.  Big shout-outs to Helena McGinley, Michaela Barbano, Ella Culbertson, Kate Weiss, Cassidy Smith and others again for a solid performance.

L to R: Grace Colaco (#7), Michaela Barbano (#2), Grace Eppinger (#5), and Ella Culbertson (#3) were all smiles after this one

I did learn a few things during the game.  First, I learned a little known rule that grandparent attendance at games equates to more playing time for their granddaughter (actually that isn’t a rule, but rather wishful thinking by the parents).  Second, I learned that forgetting my glasses can actually can be a good thing because it gives me license to make up more stuff.   Lastly, I learned that Dons fan show up (see evidence below).
