JV Girls Soccer Defeats Campo Cougars 3-0!!

Full disclosure: this picture is from another night game where it rained a lot

In 1938, local voters approved to build Acalanes High School District.  Built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration, Acalanes was the first of four comprehensive high schools in the Acalanes Union High school District (AUHSD), later joined by Campolindo, Las Lomas, and Miramonte. Over the years, Acalanes vs. Campolindo has emerged as the biggest of the sports rivalries within the district. Against that backdrop, The JV Girls Soccer team traveled to Campolindo on Saturday and left with a 3-0 victory, evening their overall record to 6-6 on the season. The score actually didn’t tell the entire story as the Dons dominated the time of possession throughout the game and had many scoring chances that resulted in shots on goal.

In the first half, 20 minutes into the game, the Dons registered their first goal when Julia Munter (#15) released down the left wing and put in a great cross that Grace Eppinger (#5) converted by taking a shot where the ball managed to get under the Cougar goalie. Despite the constant pressure on the Cougar defense, that goal ended up being was the only score for the Dons as the half ended 1-0 as rain started pouring down.

In the second half, Grace scored a second goal 10 minutes into the half after pouncing on a loose ball. And with 18 minutes left in the game, Kate Uffelman (#9) dribbled into space and scored off a long shot to put the game away.
