Varsity Dons Take Down Northgate 2-1 on Senior Night!

“Framer” of the 2023 seniors Best of Luck!

The Seniors were honored with their parents on the field before the game on Tuesday. Aidan Beers,
Andrew Habas, Miller Smith, Logan Mikalis, Mason Michlitsch, Nico O’Rourke, Sammy Lee, Tyler
Worthington and Tyson Bates were all recognized for their contributions and commitments to the
baseball program over the past 4 years. For many families this was a chance to cap a baseball career
that started with tee ball 12, 13 or 14 years ago. The boys did not disappoint the crowd on their special
day!

Seniors looking to the future

The Dons took on the Northgate Broncos at Ken Souza Field and walked away with a much needed 2-1
win under blue skies and windy conditions.

Henry Souza took the hill for Acalanes in their home whites and was masterful through 6 innings, giving up no earned runs. Throwing darts from the beginning, he threw 99 pitches and 66 were for strikes over 6 innings. Henry gave up 5 hits, 2 walks and recording 6 strikeouts in a must win game for the Dons.

Logan Mikalis

Logan Mikalis relieved Souza in the 7th inning and continued his strong season. Logan closed the door on Northgate with a 1 hit, 2 strikeout appearance to secure the win and register the save

Finishing the game 2 -1 for the win

The game was scoreless through the first 3 and ½ innings. In the bottom of the 4th Sammy Lee led off
and was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Mason Michlitsch was next and he reached on an error to put
two on for the Dons. Sophomore, and recent Varsity call up, David Gonzalez came in to run for Lee, just
before Andrew Habas safely dropped the bunt of the year down the third base line to load the bases.

Andrew Habas

James Stadt proceed to single to centerfield to score Gonzalez, before Keegan Goddard (2 hits and a sac
fly) continued his hot streak with a deep sacrifice fly to left field to plate Michlitsch. Dons 2 Broncos 0!

Mason Michlitsch

In the 6th inning, Souza got in a bit of trouble when he walked 2 batters and another reached on an error
to load the bases with no outs. Henry pitched out of the jam and gave up one unearned run. Nico
O’Rourke played hero with an impressive sliding catch down the right field line to end the inning and
preserve the 2-1 lead.

Seniors taking in 3b coaching moment

Souza was amazing, but the day belonged to the Seniors. O’Rouke made several quality plays in right,
Aidan Beers hit a rocket for a single, Sammy Lee had a hit and was rock solid behind the plate, Andrew
Habas had 2 hits, Logan Mikalis got the save and Mason Michlitsch scored the winning run.
