In an exciting home match against Northgate High School, the JV Dons defended their courts with energy, focus, and plenty of firepower, earning a strong 10-4 team victory. Acalanes came out swinging in singles, taking five of six matches, and the doubles lineup kept the momentum rolling with five more wins. From clutch serves to fearless net play, the Dons showed depth, determination, and great teamwork from top to bottom.
In singles play, Ela Gozoren set the tone at Line 1 with an impressive 8-3 win over Sydney Mills. Ela was absolutely not to be messed with, ripping off seven straight games before briefly dropping two in a row. Instead of letting the momentum shift, she shook it off, reset, and came back strong to close out the match with confidence.
At Line 2, Juliette Petkovic delivered a powerful 8-5 victory over Leah Briones. Juliette’s serve was a major weapon all match long, helping her control points early and keep pressure on her opponent. She stayed aggressive, steady, and composed in the big moments.
Kennedy Wilson was locked in at Line 3, defeating Suzanne Webster 8-3. Kennedy played long rally points with patience and poise, consistently coming out ahead. She also served up a bunch of aces, showing that her focus game is truly next level.
In Line 4 singles, Katie Lager battled to an 8-5 win over Anna Widden. Even when it may have seemed like an off day, Katie proved that even on her off days, she finds a way to win. She stayed steady from the baseline, trusted her shots, and delivered another strong match for the Dons.
At Line 5, Sara Tsang was on fire and completely unstoppable, cruising to an 8-0 win over Leah Rais. Sara brought incredible energy to the court, attacking each point with confidence and never letting up. Her footwork, consistency, and competitive spark made for a dominant performance.
Lulu Cancour fought hard at Line 6 against Sophia Adelson, dropping the match 3-8. Lulu kept battling through long points and showed great determination from start to finish. Her effort, hustle, and willingness to stay in every rally were a bright spot and showed a lot of grit.
The doubles teams also brought plenty of excitement. At Line 1, Avery and Brooke earned a strong 8-3 win over Gia and Julia. Avery came through with some great serves that set up the points beautifully, while Brooke’s net game was outstanding. Her backhand volleys at the net were especially impressive, helping the team finish points with authority.
At Line 2, Quinn and Hanna took care of business with an 8-3 victory over Saya and Mikayla. Hanna had strong groundstrokes and excellent returns, keeping Northgate on defense. Quinn was on fire at the net, cutting off shots and making it feel like nothing could get past her.
Rory and HaLong battled through a long, hard-fought match at Line 3, falling 2-8 to Cerie and Ellie. The score did not reflect the effort and intensity they brought to the court. They fought through extended rallies, stayed competitive, and continued to push for every point until the final ball.
At Line 4, Riya and Elle played with great teamwork but dropped their match 3-8 against Eva and Talia. They fought hard, communicated well, and showed great doubles instincts throughout the match. Their hustle and positive energy made them a tough team to face.
Morgan and Perrin were electric at Line 5, winning 8-4 over Zara and Rhea. Morgan’s net game was on fire, as she helped shut down ball after ball at the front of the court. Perrin added strong returns, including several impressive backhand returns in the air, giving the Dons control of the match.
At Line 6, Aly and Olivia battled hard in a 2-8 loss to Avica and Georgia. Aly’s backhand was on fire, and Olivia showed excellent court positioning, always working to be in the right spot and create strong returns. The pair kept competing and showed great promise as a doubles team.
Rory and Elle were a dynamic and powerful duo at Line 7, rolling to an 8-1 win over Elias and Kaz. Their communication was excellent, and they covered the court with strong defensive positioning and smart doubles movement. They played with confidence, closed the net well, and controlled the match from start to finish.
In Line 8 doubles, Sage and Ella finished the day with an exciting 8-5 win over Rayne and Mariana. Sage had some great returns that helped the Dons take control of rallies, while Ella used smart placement and steady court coverage to keep the pressure on. Together, they stayed composed and closed out a well-earned victory.
It was a fantastic all-around showing for the JV Dons, who combined strong serving, aggressive net play, steady baseline rallies, and great team spirit to defeat Northgated 10-4. The Dons played with confidence, toughness, and plenty of energy in front of the home crowd.
