Varsity Baseball Loses tight game to Antioch 2-1

The Dons have run into a little rough patch as the league schedule is about to begin.

Henry Souza got the start on Thursday against another large D1 school, Antioch High School. Henry went 3 innings, giving up 2 hits, a walk, and a run as he posted 2 strikeouts for Acalanes.

Peter Thorn relieved him in the 4th and finished the game on the hill. He went 4 innings, giving up 4 hits,
a walk, and a run as he recorded 3 strikeouts for the Dons. Both pitchers threw over 60 pitches for the
day.

Runs were few and far between in this battle. Offensively the boys were able to get several base runners on the base paths, but scratching runs across the plate were a challenge.

Nico O’Rourke and Gavin Bender led the squad with 2 hits each.

Gavin scored the teams only run in the 3rd inning to tie the game after Nico singled to left to knock him in. Andrew Habbas, Nikko Woodson and James Stadt also collected a hit for the day.

The Dons just couldn’t get the big hit when they needed it against a crafty left hander for Antioch, as the boys fell 2-1.

Fortunately the Las Lomas Knights come to town on Friday to start the league schedule. Hopefully the
Dons got a few bad breaks out of the way this week and are ready to get back to their winning ways.
Now the games get serious. Come out and support the teams as they take on our rivals in upcoming
league games. Go Dons!
