Boys Lacrosse Dispatch Amador Valley, 12-5

Last Friday night, was a perfect evening for action-packed lacrosse, and the ACA Boys Varsity didn’t fail to disappoint as they took on the Amador Valley Dons. The game started off unusually slow, with a scoreless first 4 minutes of play. As the pace of play began to accelerate, Sophomore stand-out, Simon Appel ripped a shot past the keeper to put the Dons on the board and they were off to the races. Co-Captain David DePaepe and Dylan Olson soon followed suit and the Boys in White jumped to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first Quarter. The second Quarter is where the Dons turned on the jets offensively and never looked back. Lefty Zach Appel struck first with a pair of rippers, followed by Joey Bettencourt, Simon Appel, Marshall Anderson, and Cooper Olson. Defensively, the Dons were able to overcome the absence of Senior George Churchill and amassing 6 minutes of playing man-down to hold Amador to just 4 points in the first half.

By the half, it was abundantly clear that Amador, missing their top player Reed Shaw, was simply way outmatched. Coaches Smith and Faust began to heavily rotate in their up-and-comers. Sophomore Griffin Rotundo had one Assist and a game-high 4 ground balls, while Brody Darin and Evan Banwart took 3 shots a piece. Colin Malmquist and Eitan Romick scooped up two GB’s a piece. Ethan Pancoast’s high motor was on full display as he took and shot and picked up a ground ball. Val Grossi settled in between the pipes for the second half and made the most of his time with 2 saves and 2 successful clears. The fourth Quarter saw Co-Captain Owen Estee put one between the pipes and amass his third GB, Evan Banwart notch his third goal on the season and Simon Appel completed a hat-trick putting a nail in Amador’s coffin (so to speak) with a final score of 12-5. Next up, the boys travel the Berkeley on Tuesday. Go Dons!
