Varsity Girls Soccer Defeats Northgate and Notches 11th Shutout of Season

Acalanes girls varsity soccer beat the Northgate Broncos 3-0. The win moves the Dons into the top 3 in league. The Dons got on the board 25 minutes into the first half off senior Addie Bailey’s perfectly placed blast just between the goalie and right post. Bailey was set up by crisp passes from sophomore Nicole Nguyen and senior Jacque Peacock. Just before halftime, freshman Tatum Keely’s amazing goal line header stopped an almost certain Northgate score to keep the shutout and 1-0 lead.

8 minutes after halftime, Bailey extended the lead and scored her second of the night off an interception and pass from sophomore Lucca DeBiasse deep in the Northgate half. Bailey’s great positioning was the result of fantastic pressure she and fellow senior Senior Tatum Zuber applied, forcing the Broncos to retreat 50 yards and make hurried passes. With 10 minutes to play Nicole Nguyen was fouled hard in the penalty box, setting up a penalty shot which sophomore Alex Salazar slotted in the right corner for a 3-0 lead. Once again the sensational defending group Chloe’s Quintet (seniors Chloe Quintella and Taylor Carlin, sophomore Demi Woods, and freshmen Victoria Hiatt and Tatum Keely) and senior goalie Catherine Judson record another shutout, their 11th of the season.
