Wrestling had two tournaments over the weekend

Coach Jim Coyle, Dakota Goyert, Olivia Banks, Joy Baker, and Coach Blake Hedlund celebrate.

The Girls went to the Roger Briones tournament in San Leandro on Saturday.  It was a 12-hour tourney. Dakota Goyert continued her domination of opponents winning her 2nd consecutive tournament, and going undefeated.  She is currently undefeated against every girl she had faced.  Joy Baker also wrestled hard and finished 6th in the tournament.

The boys went to the Bay Area 58 Tournament in Castro Valley.  This was also a large tournament with 32-man brackets.  New wrestlers had great outings – Kirian Gracie, Matthew Law, Collin Malmquist, and Adam Brown all wrestling tough at their first varsity tournament.  Captains Hunter Goyert and Zach Robb both had strong showings. Zach won his 1st match and then lost tough matches by very slim margins. Hunter won his first two matches and looked strong before he lost in the round that would have sent him on to a medal. Dylan Potter also went 1-2, winning his 2nd match with a pin. This was a tough tournament, but a good start and kicked us off into the rest of the year.
