Boys Frosh Basketball vs De La Salle

Dons vs De La Salle Saturday was a great match-up!

Acalanes Boys were disciplined on defense leading to similar shooting percentages overall.

AHS shot 25% from the field while DLS shot 26%.

The Dons were down 10-6 in the first period with DLS having a higher shooting average to start 38% to Dons 17%. However, once they warmed up the tides started to change. Gavin Beers #21 and Ryder Malm #33 were on fire continuously putting pressure on DLS. It was 15 to 6 starting out 2nd qt when Ryder Malm demolished the rim with 2-point FG followed up with both he and Gavin making another 4 pts trading the free throw line. With 50 sec left Gavin Beers #21 powered a lay-up for 2 and drew the foul for another 1pt bringing it 17 to 17 by halftime. The Dons led at the end of the 3rd quarter 26-25 thanks to their aggressive defense making 13 steals and forcing 19 turnovers. Don’t fall asleep dribbling when Ilias Kaplanes-Jones #10 is playing, or he will steal the ball like tonight making 5 steals in all.

Although the 4th quarter started out with a 3-pointer by Lorenzo Cangini #30, the Dons had trouble scoring late in the period. Eventually, they battled it out with free throw shooting, giving the game to the Spartans 37-29.

Each week the Frosh Team gets better! They are sharing the ball, getting good shots, and playing tough defense. They are fun to watch!
