Acalanes Girls Soccer Season Preview

The 2021-2022 Acalanes Girls Soccer team is looking forward to dominating the competition this season and reclaiming the NCS title that they last won in 2020. Coach Nick Barbarino is returning for his 4th season with the Dons. Coach Nick was impressed with the talent level at tryouts earlier in November; he said that it was the most talented field of players that he has seen during his tenure at Acalanes. Turnout at tryouts was so robust that the Dons were able to field Varsity, JV and Frosh/Soph teams this year. All three teams will be very exciting to watch this season!

Varsity team captains Addie Bailey, Chloe Quintella, Ella Johnston, Lauren Yee and Tatum Zuber are looking forward to leading the team to victory this season. Returning to varsity are seniors Ella Johnston, Lauren Yee, Mia Sides, Natalie Cohen and Sammy Hess, juniors Addie Bailey, Catherine Judson, Chloe Quintella, Emmi Cronin, Jacque Peacock, Sophi MacKay, Tatum Zuber, and Taylor Carlin, and sophomores Avery Ives and Ella Thomason. The Dons are rounding out their varsity roster with seniors Elise Flagg, Katherine Montoya, Natalie Means, junior Camryn Salazar, and freshmen Demi Woods, Nicole Nguyen, Melisa Adatepe and Taylor Mikalis.

The Dons will take to the field for a scrimmage against Pittsburg High School on December 2nd. Varsity’s first official game of the season will be at Mt. Diablo High School on December 7th at 7pm. JV will kick off their season away against El Cerrito on December 7th at 4pm. The Frosh/Soph team is looking forward to hosting Northgate on December 4th at 9am for their first match of the season.
