Dons Win 2nd in a Row, Topping Benicia 8 – 5 Behind a Complete Game From Braunstein

On a sunny but cool day at Acalanes Tuesday afternoon, Benjy Braunstein (jr) scattered 7 hits across 7 innings, and rode a 6 run 3rd inning from his offense to pickup the win.  It was the first complete game of the season for the Dons.  Benjy’s defense was very solid for the most part, including a great diving stop by Brady Huchingson (sr), who stopped a hard hit grounder diving to his left and made the throw in time to first to rob the Benicia player of a sure hit. Ethan Rowland (jr) also made a nice stop at 3rd base in the top of the 3rd inning and recovered in time to rob another hit.

On the offensive side of the ball the Dons had 8 hits including 2 by Huchingson and 1 each by Burleigh, Bergman, Heyman, Souza, McPhail, and Cusumano.  Interestingly though, the Dons 6 run outburst in the 3rd inning featured a bunt single, 3 hit batters, 5 walks, and a sac fly.  Very unusual.

Safe at home

Next up for the Dons is Benicia away on Thursday, and a 3 game series vs Clayton Valley next week.
