Girls Varsity Soccer Loses to Benicia

It was the tale of two halves on Monday night at Benicia High. The Dons, coming off an incredible win against last year’s State Champions, Miramonte, came out strong against Benicia in the first half. Senior Ivy Souza connected with Freshman Addie Bailey within the first 10 minutes of the first half to make the score 1-0. The Dons played well, holding possession and playing strong defense. Everyone was feeling very confident that the Dons would take the W.

The second half, however, was much different. Benicia came out strong, taking the Dons out of their rhythm and playing very aggressively. The Dons seemed to be playing on their heels. Benicia scored within the first 5 minutes of the second half to tie it up 1-1, and the Dons couldn’t recover. Benicia was able to score with 20 minutes left in the game to take the lead 2-1. That was the final score.

The Dons will face Sir Francis Drake on Saturday at 3pm.
