Women’s Varsity Soccer Beat Miramonte

The Women’s Varsity soccer team started their season off strong by beating a very tough Matadors team in Orinda by a score of 2-1.  Maddie Zuber scored the first goal of the game off of a corner kick around the 10-minute mark in the first half.  The Mats came back to tie it up 1-1 before the half.

The rainy weather made the ball hard to control and the ball was skipping on the turf.  But that didn’t seem to bother goalkeeper, Kate Carter, as she made several incredible saves against a very strong Mats shooting midfield.  With about 13 minutes left to play in the game, Ivy Souza found Sasha Sadoff on the wing and she was able to find the back of the net to have the Dons go up 2-1.  The Mats continued to put pressure on the defense, led by Sammy Hansen, but time ran out and the Dons were victorious.

The Dons will play again this Thursday at home at 7pm against Hercules.
