Tracksters Find Success in California/Livermore tri-meet and at 55th Bob Warren Invitational

The Track & Field team demonstrated that they can compete on a wicked cold Thursday night vs. California San Ramon and Livermore and on a beautiful and sunny day Saturday at the 55th running of Bob Warren Charlie Eaton Invitational with 20 competing teams.

The season is early and the girl’s team will receive a welcome inflow the basketball team with the addition of basketball and track standouts Dulci Vail, Sophie Chinn, Cameron Thornton and Lexi Le.  In the interim, the Lady Don’s have been establishing some great marks across a variety of events.

On Thursday, Haley Chelemedos took 1st in the 100 and Long Jump (with a DAL leading 16’5″), 2nd in the 100 hurdles and anchored the 2nd place 4×100 relay team along with Genevieve Tarsa, Isabelle Agnost, Olivia Kemp.  Anju Sekhon won the 1600 and placed third in the 800 and Isabelle Agnost finished a strong third in the 100.

On Saturday, the girls continued with strong performances including a season best and DAL #2 4×100 relay performance with the same team of Tarsa, Agnost, Kemp and Chelemedos, holding off Windsor by .02, and winning with Haley’s lean across the line to win our home invitational in this event for the first time in over 10 years.  And, frosh soph record alert, Isabelle Agnost finished 3rd in the 100 with a speedy 13.07, just .07 off of Sophie Chinn’s frosh soph record 13.00.   

Thursday the boys also had great performances across the board, standouts including River Lockwood’s wins in the 110 and 300 hurdles (DAL #2 in both events), Deonte Littlejohn’s win in the shotput and discus (#1 in DAL throw of 156’5″), Illias Kaplanes Jones win in the long jump at 21′ 3.25″ (first in DAL) and second in the 100, Landon Daily’s win in the high jump at 5’10” and Jackson Boselli’s 3rd place in the 100.

On Saturday, not to be outdone by the Lady Don’s the 4×100 relay team took 1st in a blazing 43.44 with Illias Kaplanes Jones, Matthew Schwarz, Jackson Boselli, and River Lockwood.  Saturday’s time is the 9th best in school history and first in DAL.  Also on Saturday, Littlejohn placed 1st in the discus, 2nd in the shotput, Lockwood placed 1st in the 400 in 51.93, Kaplanes Jones placed 2nd in the long jump and 4th in the 100 and Jackson Boselli set a PR in the 100 with a very fast third place finish in 11.28, only .14 off the top 10 leaderboard.
