Tuesday night the JV Ladies hosted the team from Danville, Monte Vista. Almost every player on MV were Club Lax Players. Did that stop these hustling JV Dons no way! They outran, out-passed, out-defensed, out-maneuvered and out scored MV 12-3. Our Players were hungry, and boy did they EAT! They won their third game of the year and that makes 21 in a row and 35 wins out of their last 37 games for this feisty and talented squad of new starters and reserves!
As tends to happen to this team the Mustangs struck first winning the Draw and taking it down the field for an immediate score. However, after that it was all Dons. The offense was running and gunning throwing dimes all over the field for beautiful assists and scores. It remained close at 3 to 2 at the end of the First Period. But except for a late goal for the Mustangs that as they say is all she wrote. The Dons scored 8 goals in the Second Period to take a 10-2 lead at half. Both Goalies were incredible with Chloe Lloyd and Persephone Quine doing their usual incredible goal tending.
The re-defense by our Attack, Midfield and Defenders continuously frustrated a strong MV team. The Dons controlled over 35 loose balls led by Svea Staino (5) Molly “the Wall” Jones (2) Julia “Lightning” Lyons (5 plus several intercepted passes), Allie “Smooth” Schofield (5), Ella Culbertson (4 and Ella had several Draw Controls), Maddie the Little General Obertello, Samantha Swift (2) and first time player Chloe Vignoles (2). Chloe also scored a goal that was taken off the Board but it was good!
Our attack consisting of Stella Degroot and Savana Martinez, Talia Tichman and Samantha Stewart and of course Cate Mercier. Talia had 6 goals and Cate had 4 goals. Scoring Machines. Svea had 4 assists and two goals along with her ground ball play. Ruby, Allie and Ella also had an assist. Great movement of the ball for scores.
Other players that continuously played tough aggressive defense and offense including returning and first year players Bea Deignan, Livvy Lewis, Alexa Wall, Avila Payne, Lexi Chaput, Delphine Fisher, Yali Avrahimi Taryn Stevenson, Dora Henel, Olivia Bernier, Michela Barbera, Penny Haslam, Genivive Tenorio, Willa Wilcott, Colby Baily, Delilah Ottobre, Nina Fairman, Olivia Bush and Talia Burciaga. The newer players are coming along very quickly.
A couple of interesting Statistics jump out that show why the Dons won so easily. The Dons had 32 loose balls controlled and the Mustangs only had 14, The Dons had 27 shots on goal and MV had 7. These are very telling stats.
The fans and the sidelines were also incredible. A true Team Victory
GOOOOOOOOOOOO DONS!
