On Saturday afternoon the Acalanes Dons traveled to Benicia High School down multiple players and faced a very physical Benicia Panthers squad. With only one substitute in the second half of the game, the resilient Dons pulled away for a 3-0 victory.
Acalanes opened the scoring with an impressive free kick from Sofia Cerruti that was barely deflected by the goalie only to be followed up by Livi Foster for the goal. Benicia tried to answer minutes later with a breakaway but Edie Berzansky came from out of nowhere to stop the attack and save the potential score. Berzansky later had a free kick that went to Sisi Houston who then sent the ball to Danica Green who scored for the Dons to make it 2-0.
Later in the second half Houston had another stellar assist, this time to Foster who shot and scored to bring the final tally to 3-0 in favor of the Dons.
The Dons improve to 10-2-3 on the season and 4-1-2 in league play. Next up is a road game at Northgate High School on Tuesday at 5pm.
