Friday night brought our Martinez rivals to Acalanes for a tight contentious match. The Dogs came out strong and aggressive putting our girls on their heels.
Stout defensive play by Della Pascucci, Maggie Saracevic, Elise Flagg, Mia Sides, Catherine Judson, and Gianna Intagliata and Kylie Quinn in goal kept the Dogs at bay with the score 0-0 at half.
Early in the second half a beautiful free kick by Camryn Salazar found Lue Van Handel at the far post for a tap in. Lue then sent a ball over the top which found Sophi MacKay, flying up the center of the pitch, who doubled our advantage 2-0. The final moments were tense as the Dogs tried to claw their way back scoring one in the final minutes but once again the defense tightened and closed out the game 2-1.
The Dons will face Northgate at home on Friday, Jan. 31st at 5pm.
