On Saturday, January 4th, the Girls Varsity Soccer team got back to business after their long holiday break. The Dons came out a bit rusty from the start, and Pitt was very aggressive. However, the Freshmen continue to shine as Tatum Zuber got the Dons on the board with a beautiful direct kick outside the goal box to make the score 1-0 with about 15 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Dons had a great combination when Sophomore Ella Johnston gained possession in the midfield to pass to Senior Eliza Parry, who then found Freshman Addie Bailey in the center with an excellent finish to make the score 2-0 just before the half.
To start the second half, the Dons came out on fire with some high intensity. Senior Captain Dylan Hagglund made an incredible pass from the backline to Addie Bailey once again within the first minute to make the score 3-0. Moments later, Senior Beth Daughters found Dylan Hagglund making a run up the left side and Dylan scored with a strong left-footed shot into the right corner of the goal to bring the score to 4-0.
Pitt was able to answer back a couple of times to bring the score a bit closer, but the Dons were able to thwart their threat.
The Dons’ record is now 5-1-1, with a tougher challenge coming up tonight at home against undefeated El Cerrito at 7pm.
