The Dons showed up in force on Friday at the Miwok Aquatic Center at the College of Marin for the NCS Prelims. Top 16 finishers qualify for the finals on Saturday, May 9.
The Girls 200 Medley Relay team of Malin S, Anna M, Tess V and Anika R were ON FIRE finishing 7th overall in a 1:46.90 – a time that is under the AUTOMATIC qualifying time for STATE, and #3 on the AHS All-Time List! Now, they just have to do it again on Saturday in the A final, and they are headed to CIF next weekend! The boys team of Braden D, Jayden H, Cruz T and Gunnar G finished 14th overall, and will swim in the B final on Saturday,
Ella D finished 16th overall in the 200 Free, qualifying for the B final on Saturday. Braden D was 41st overall in the boys race. Malin S finished 24th in the 200 IM, with Anna M in 28th and Addison S in 32nd. Anika R finished 14th overall in the 50 Free with 24.35, qualifying for the B final and coming in at #10 on the AHS All Time list! Gunnar Grant finished in 20th place in the boys race.
Tess V qualified 16th overall, making the B final in 100 Fly. Cruz T finished 15th overall in the boys race, qualifying for the B final. Braden D finished in 37th place. Ella D qualified 16th in the 100 Free, making the B final. Gunnar Grant finished in 37th place in the boys race. Karly T finished in 28th place in the 500 Free.
The 200 Free Relay team of Jayna G, Ella D, Elinor C and Sara W finished 16th overall to qualify for the B final on Saturday. The boys team of Wilson D, Max M, Andrew T and Mason S finished 20th overall.
Malin S finished 12th overall, qualifying for the B final, and improving her #4 AHS All-Time entry, to 58.59. Anika R finished 19th in 1:00.21, improving her #10 AHS All-Time entry. Tess Veronda finished 26th. Cruz T finished 16th overall for the boys, qualifying for the B final, while Mason S finished in 37th place.
Addison S finished 8th overall, qualifying for the A final in 100 Breast, and moved from #5 to #4 on the AHS All-Time list with a 1:04.98! Anna M finished 13th, qualifying for the B final. Audrey M went from 37th seed to 17th overall, and is first alternate for finals on Saturday. Elinor C, after qualifying 41st, was able to race, and finished in 26th place.
The 400 Relay team of Jayna G, Anika R, Malin S and Ella D finished 9th overall and will swim in the B final on Saturday. The boys team of Cruz T, Gunnar G, Mason S and Braden D finished 16th overall and will swim in the B final on Saturday.
All in all, we had seven individual qualifiers for finals, one first alternate, and 5 of 6 Relay Teams will swim in the finals as well, one with a realistic chance of going to State! We have five new Top 10 AHS All-Time records from Friday’s prelims. Let’s see what the Dons do tomorrow at NCS Finals!
