On April 21, a blustery Tuesday, the Dons travelled to Northgate for the final dual DAL track meet of the season, with the field events wrapping on the following Wednesday at home. The boys varsity team finished up their season with a dominant win 87.33-42.67, while the girls varsity came up four points short, 66-70.
It was a strong conclusion to the regular season, with the boys 4×100 relay team A (Matthew Schwarz, Illias Kaplanes-Jones, Jackson Boselli, and River Lockwood) and B team (Pengyu Chen, Finneus Aiken, Luca Oatham, Harrison Sheffler) coming in first and second place, and the varsity girls 4×100 relay team A (Julia Munter, Cameron Thornton, Olivia Kemp, and Isabelle Agnost) running their fastest time of the season in 49.82.
Other highlights from the first day include a strong showing in the boys 400, with River Lockwood running a personal best of 50.99 for first place, and Julian Hood and Bryan Lurie taking second and third for a sweep. In the girls 400, Cameron Thornton ran her personal best, coming in first at 1:00.88. Tori Hiatt and Olivia Kemp completed the sweep. In the 800, Harry Zimmermanran a personal best, coming in at 1:59.54. The boys had another sweep in the 200, with Illias Kaplanes-Jones, Benjamin Mickelson, and Matthew Schwarzcoming in first, second, and third. And to wrap up the meet, in the 4×400, the boys A team (Matthew Schwarz, Julian Hood, Benjamin Michelson, and River Lockwood) took first and B team took second (Elliot Van Ornum, Trevor Krick, Harrison Sheffler, and Bryan Lurie).
On day two of the meet, the Dons dominated the field events. Amari Hollins(29’5), Mackenzi Siewert (26’9) and Aria Falahati (25’11”) swept the girls varsity shot put. Deonte Littlejohn won the shotput (53’0”) and the discus(174’0”). River Lockwood threw for a personal best and second place (104’2”). In the girls discus, the varsity girls again swept the event, with Mackenzie Siewert coming in first with her personal best of 104’5’, followed by Amari Hollins in second (100’2”) and Maria Tislenko (73’11”). Grant Ricker won the high jump in 5’0” and the boys swept the pole vault with Miles Moore in first (13’0”), Andres Duke (10’6”) and Remi Jalil (9’0”). Illias Kaplanes-Joneswon the boys long jump in 22’3”, followed by Andrew Upp and Colton Whalen Schlosser. The girls also swept the long jump with Avery Titus jumping 15’5”, with Alexis Le and Lesley Trowbridge taking second and third. Grant Ricker won the boys triple jump in 41’0” followed by William Siamasand Sebastian Springfield. And to wrap up the jumps, Alexis Le won the girls triple jump in 32’8” with Lesley Trowbridge taking second.
