It was a beautiful evening as the JV Lady Dons took the field against the Miramonte Matadors—and from the opening whistle, there was no doubt who controlled the game. Although Miramonte came in scrappy and confident, they were no match for this electrifying Acalanes squad.
The Dons jumped out to a commanding 7–3 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 12–4 victory—and it wasn’t even that close. From start to finish, Acalanes dominated on both ends with near-flawless offense and suffocating defense. With the win, the Dons improve to a perfect 16–0 overall and 7–0 in conference play, officially clinching the mythical conference championship.
This team simply does not quit—and right now, they look unstoppable. All 31 players saw action, and every single one contributed.
The midfield unit set the tone early and often. Allie Schofield, Eloise Greeson, Chloe Vignoles, Lucy Hamilton, and Emilia Deutsch controlled the pace, winning draws, scooping ground balls, and creating scoring opportunities all game long. Lucy Hamilton led the charge with three goals, one assist, and four draw controls. Allie added a goal and four ground balls, Chloe chipped in a goal, assist, and draw control, while Eloise contributed multiple assists and draw wins. Emilia dominated the middle of the field with her relentless speed and ability to break past defenders.
That midfield dominance fueled the attack. Stella DeGroot finished a beautiful crease roll, Lexi Chaput delivered two incredible goals and an assist, Talia Tichnor added two strong drive-and-shoot goals, and Estee Romick found the back of the net as well.
The offensive pressure never let up. Yali Avrahimi, Savana Martinez, Genevieve Tenorio, Elouise Kubas, and newcomers Oona Salo, Kennedy Wilson, Phoebe Ambrosini, Quinn Curley, and sharpshooter Willow Ward kept Miramonte pinned in their own end. Outside of a brief early push, the Matadors struggled to generate any consistent offense, scoring just twice after the opening minutes.
When called upon, the Dons defense stood tall like an iron wall. Bea Deignan, Avila Payne, Riley Zirkel, Carolyn Tumulty, Brooke Lewis, Livvy Lewis, Penny Haslam, Sydney Piacente, Delphine Fisher, Cameron Koch, and Hadley Hastings shut down every attempt Miramonte made to build momentum. Special recognition goes to Bea, Carolyn, Avila, Riley, and Sydney for standout performances anchoring the defensive unit.
In goal, Persephone Quine once again delivered a stellar performance, making key saves and initiating strong clears to keep the pressure on.
As they have all season, the Dons outran, outworked, and outplayed their opponent in every phase of the game. While the final score was lopsided, this was still a hard-fought team victory against a determined opponent—but from the first five minutes, the outcome was never in doubt.
Come out Friday to watch this incredible team close out their season against Las Lomas. If they play the way they have all year, a perfect season is within reach.
LET’S GO DONS!
