AINT NO STOPPIN THEM NOW: JV DONS LADIES LACROSSE REMAIN UNDEFEATED BY BURYING BISHOP O’DOWD 15-4

It was a beautiful evening when the JV Ladies Lacrosse team traveled to Oakland to take on a deep and talented Bishop O’Dowd team. However their talent and defense was no match for this incredibly exciting young Dons team. The Ladies jumped out to an 11 to 1 lead and never looked back. This win ran the Don’s record to 5 wins and 0 losses. There is absolutely no quit in this team and so far they cannot be stopped. 27 players played in this game with players like Carolyn Tumulty, Emilia Deutsch Stella and Willow Ward making their weekday squad debut.

The Don’s had a new goalie for this game as Dora Henley (normally an midfielder) filled in amazingly in her first game. The Midfielders Allie Schofield, Elouise Greeson, Chloe Vignoles, Tatum Walsh and Louie Kubas scored, assisted and picked up many ground balls. They set up players like Stella Degroot for a beautiful creese roll, Savana “Savy” Martinez for a fake head goal and Talia Tichnor for a beautiful drive and shoot goal. Talia had five goals in this game herself.

All of the other Attacker’s offense and re-defense including Yali Avrahimi, Genevieve Tenorio, Lexi Chaput and newcomers Estee Romick and Brooke Lewis, O’Dowd could never get the ball out of the Acalanes side of the field. Except for a run of three goals in two minutes O’Dowd only scored once.

When tested the defense was an iron wall. The entire starting defense was new starters this year. Led by Bea Deignan, Avila Payne, Alexa Wall, Livvy Lewis, Penny Haslam and Delphine Fisher, Riley Zirkle, Cameron Koch and Hadley Hastings they stopped the Dragons every time they tried to make a run. The Defense would not be denied. Special notice must go out to four defenders Bea, Livvy, Avila and of course new star Riley who only allowed one goal during the entire time that they were in.

As usual this group of young ladies outran, out hustled, out hearted and out lacrossed Bishop O’Dowd as they could not keep up with these young scrappy and talented Dons. The effort on the field was a wonderful sight to see from every player that entered the game.

Although the score was one sided this was a hard-fought scrappy team win. This game was supposed to be a close one as O’Dowd came into the game with a winning record however from the first two minutes of the game it was never in doubt. Come out and watch this team on Tuesday as they will play College Park. I promise you will be both impressed and entertained. So fun top watch! LETS GOOOOOOOOO DONS!
