The Lady Dons met Las Lomas Tuesday night looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games (this year) and 41 counting last season’s 27-0 finish. In a decidedly one-sided game, the Dons prevailed 18-5. The fist quarter set the tone for the game, with the Dons striking early and often and jumping out to an 8-0 lead. Jewel Roemer ignited the team with 3 early goals, and finished the game with 5. Claire Rowell led all scorers with 6, Heidi Heffelfinger and Maizie O’Hare added 2 each and Brooke Westphal, Daylor Williams and Alexa Carter each had 1. Coach Misha Buchel pulled up 7 Freshman for the match and they showed how deep the team is, playing the entire 4th quarter and outscoring Las Lomas 3-2 to finish off a solid victory.
The JV team, missing 7 key players, held their own but lost to Las Lomas 10-5, bringing their record to 12-2. Jordan Hagglund showed her versatility, playing goalie and scoring 2 goals from the field later on. Abby Montaquila stood out as well with 2 goals.
Both teams look to continue their success next Wednesday at home against rival Campolindo.
