JV Girls Soccer Wins Over Miramonte 2-0

Away at cross-town rivals Mats last Thursday, our fighting Dons continued their winning streak (and undefeated league run). Long story short, Audrey Tseng (#4) put one in the back of the net in the first and another in the second for a beautifully balanced game, but let’s get to the details:

The first goal came early to set the tone… a great passing sequence and set up from Liv Kemp (#5) put Audrey in a perfect spot to get the Dons on the board. Fantastic goal, 1-0, Dons!

Then some solid defense from Liv and Courtney Hamill (#10), resulting in a corner for Miramonte. This only allowed Brooke Lewis (#0) the opportunity to showcase her formidable punch out goal defending skills.

We continued on with exceptional offensive pressure from Audrey, Lucy Hamilton (#8), Avery Titus (#3), and Allie Schofield (#12). And to the other side of the field for a diving save from Brooke! Back to the offensive side with shots on goal from Allie, Avery, and Sofie Kemper (#6).

That’s the half.

The Mats came out hot, hoping to equalize, or at lease give the Dons a run for their money… which happened for a bit with lots of back and forth on the pitch the first few minutes. Great defending by dynamic duo Farren Staino (#16), and Ruby Coy (#9) on a Mats free kick… another save by Brooke… and again!

Our Dons got it back to their territory and Audrey put up a phenomenal cross for Avery, who alllllmost finished.

Lucy set up an awesome play sequence (including full body block) to shift the momentum downfield yet again and followed with a picture-perfect cross to Audrey. Audrey’s clean arc of a ball for her second hit of the game moved the Dons further away with 12 minutes to go.

One last superb defensive effort from Ashby Raher (#15) and Brooke on a last Mats attempt, and that was game.

Join us at home, this Thursday (1/29) at 5p as our Dons face Las Lomas.

Let’s GO Dons!!
