Boys LAX rally to victory on Senior Night!

With spring temperatures in the mid 70’s, the Boys lacrosse team took the field Friday night to take on local rival Miramonte on Senior night at AHS. The Dons got off to a sluggish start, digging themselves into a 1-6  shortfall after 1st quarter. The second quarter produced much better results as the Dons rallied to a 6-7 halftime score.

As the Boys huddled with their coaching staff at half, a few adjustments were made and the Dons came out ready for second half success. The third quarter provided lots of fireworks with both teams playing great team lacrosse. At the end of 3rd quarter, both teams were locked up in a 8-8 nail biter.

Prior to the Dons taking the field for the final quarter, words could be heard from the bench including, “Dons don’t let Dons lose on Senior night!” With great energy and solid team play, the Dons rallied and played fantastic lax in the final period, scoring two more goals while holding the Mats scoreless in the fourth.

As the Friday night lights shown brightly and the game came to an end, the Dons completed their mission of sending out the seniors on a winning note with a come from behind 10-8 victory. The Dons were lead offensively by Senior Jack Wickline, 4 goals and Avery Howell with 2 goals. Defensively, Carson Burrill and Cole Schoenheide were standouts for the Dons.
