The Dons came out firing against Monte Vista, quickly establishing control with strong passing, aggressive defense, and balanced scoring.

Colin Heintz got things started by finding Spencer Salfen, who put the first goal on the board. Colin then converted a penalty shot, followed by Luke Wellen finding the net. Another quick goal was added, giving Acalanes a 4–1 lead after the first quarter.

The Dons continued to build their lead in the second. Finn Butler connected with Luke, who found Spencer for another goal. Brady Pigeon added a goal, and Acalanes headed into halftime with an 8–2 advantage.

Ryan Graff was strong in goal throughout the game, making save after save and helping keep Monte Vista’s offense in check. The defense in front of him was equally active, with players fighting for loose balls, winning possessions, and making it difficult for Monte Vista to generate quality chances.

Acalanes continued to pull away in the second half. Colin scored on a bounce shot and later fought through the defense to add another. Finn, Brady, Ben Paulsen, Connor Dunton, Mason Ross, Ben Lin, and Theo Penn all contributed throughout the game as the Dons showcased their depth and versatility.

The fourth quarter saw more strong passing and defense, with Finn, Ben, Mason, Theo, and Brady all finding ways to contribute. The Dons closed out the game 15–5, earning their fourth win of the tournament.

It was another complete team performance from Acalanes, with contributions coming from all over the pool and the Dons continuing to show just how much depth they have throughout the roster.

Championship Game: Redwood 11, Acalanes 4

The championship matchup against Redwood was a different kind of challenge. Redwood came ready to play, and the game quickly became a physical, competitive battle.

Redwood struck first and built an early lead, but the Dons continued to battle. Ryan made several excellent saves in goal, while the defense worked hard to disrupt Redwood’s attack and create opportunities going the other direction.

Luke Wellen put Acalanes on the board with a well-placed finish, and Colin Heintz followed with two goals in the second quarter. Brady Pigeon also found the net, helping the Dons stay within striking distance.

Redwood continued to apply pressure in the second half, making it difficult for the Dons to convert several opportunities of their own. Ryan continued to make big saves, while Luke, Colin, Brady, and Ben Paulsen helped the Dons compete through the final whistle.

Redwood ultimately took the championship, 11–4.

While the final game didn’t go the Dons’ way, finishing
second in the Vintage Crush Tournament is a strong result—especially after a week that included multiple wins, balanced scoring, strong defense, and plenty of opportunities for players to step into different roles.

Second Place! Taking home the trophy!
