On Thursday, the Girls Varsity Tennis team returned home to take on perennial sports powerhouse San Ramon Valley. Undaunted by the opponent or the heat wave that caused the matches to start late and be played as 8-game pro sets, the Dons won by a decisive margin of 7-2.
On the singles side, Liza Sokolova won 8-5 at Line 1, Audrey Tseng lost 8-6 at Line 2, Jasmine Taylor won 8-5 at Line 3, Averly Ammerman won 8-0 at Line 4, Emily Stern won 8-4 at Line 5, and Louie Kubas won 8-3 at Line 6.
On the doubles side, the lineup changed a bit due to illness and injury. Senior co-captains Grace Colaco and Riley Zirkel teamed up for the first time in their high school careers and emerged with a 8-5 victory at Line 1, Gemma Satterfield and Alessa Smith lost 8-4 at Line 2, and Livvy Lewis and Tatum Duff won 8-6 at Line 3. In the extended match, Maddie Obertello and Lotta Griemens lost 8-6.
The team’s next match is on the road at Northgate on Tuesday, September 15th @ 4pm
