Acalanes’ JV squad rolled into Berean Christian and delivered a highlight‑packed performance—six touchdowns by six different players, three interceptions by three different defenders, and nonstop energy from whistle to whistle.
Berean Christian opened with the ball, but the Dons’ defense immediately set the tone. Norah Taylor built a three‑play wall, stacking a block, a flag pull, and another block to force a quick punt.
Two plays into Acalanes’ first drive, Zoe Schweifler exploded for a 43‑yard touchdown sprint, and Ivana Adolphson ran for the extra point for a 7–0 lead.
The defense stayed fierce. Morgan “Monster” McIlvaine lived up to her nickname (in a previous matchup College Park referred to her as a “monster” with her continuous pressure of their quarterback) with two flag pulls, while Fiona Thelen added another to shut down Berean’s momentum.
Acalanes’ second possession brought more fireworks—Clara Sargent snagged a pass and turned it into a touchdown, followed by a successful extra‑point run for 14–0. During the next offensive drive, Margaret Stirling broke free for another score, sending the Dons into halftime up 20–0.
The second half opened with a jolt: Maria Sakaguti blazed down the field on a 61‑yard touchdown run to make it 26–0. Berean tried to respond, but Margaret Stirling stepped in front of a pass for an interception. Quarterback Grace Natal capitalized, later connecting with Morgan “Monster” McIlvaine on a 13‑yard touchdown strike for 32–0.
Berean finally found the end zone on a long run—nearly stopped by Daphne Hwang, who managed to grab the speedy runner’s shorts, knocking off a flag. Officials ultimately ruled the player was not down and the touchdown remained, but Hwang immediately answered with an interception on the extra‑point attempt.
Late in the fourth, Berean attempted one last drive, only for Dheliya Guiro to jump a route, snag the interception, and take it all the way back for a touchdown. Acalanes kneeled the extra point and closed out a dominant 38–6 victory.
