The undefeated Acalanes JV boys water polo was ready to take on the Northgate Broncos on Wednesday afternoon. The Dons got right to work with freshman Brady Pigeon winning the sprint and claiming the first possession. Fellow freshman Luke Wellen took the ball down and scored to get the Dons on the scoreboard. Freshman Colin Heintz sent a few ball into the twine as well. The Broncos were able to get the ball down to their cage, but strong Acalanes defense and goalie Ryan Graff weren’t making it easy. At the end of Q1, the score was 5-1 Acalanes. 

The second quarter continued with the Dons showing their dominance. The defence was strong on both sides which kept the scoring to one goal a piece before the half.  Acalanes 6 and Northgate 2.

Brady Pigeon started the quarter off with another superior sprint to gain possession. Luke swam the ball down and stuck the ball in the twine for one more Acalanes goal. Northgate was able to get a few shots off but the majority of the action was down at the Dons goal. On the next possession, Brady swam the ball down to goal for a solid goal which moved Acalanes into double digits! The Broncos had a hard time finding the cage and center defender Alexander Mura was making it hard to get a shot off! 

Quarter 4 started off with another quick sprint from Brady. Spencer Salfen was working hard in set and the Dons were doing a great job of driving to the cage. This group has some speedy players like Finn Butler who left the Broncos in the dust. Ryan continued to stand tall in the cage and throw great passes to his team. Additional goals from Luke and Colin helped bring the final score to 14-5 when the final buzzer rang. 

The Dons SHOWED UP today and proved from start to finish that they are the team to beat this season!
