Streaming Games: Do Not Get Scammed!

SCAM ALERT: Fake Livestream Links Target Acalanes High School Sports Fans on Instagram and Facebook 

As the fall high school sports season kicks into full gear, scammers are preying on excited fans, parents, and students by flooding Instagram and Facebook with fake livestreaming links, and all High School have become one of the latest targets, including the Dons! 

Dozens of fraudulent accounts are popping up across social media, impersonating school teams or local sports outlets. These pages often copy Acalanes’ name, logos, and hashtags to appear authentic, and even tag the school directly to seem legitimate.

How the Scam Works

The posts and direct messages usually contain enticing messages like:
“Watch Acalanes vs. [Opponent] LIVE here  [suspicious link]”

However, clicking those links leads to scam websites designed to harvest personal information or financial data. Victims report being asked for:

  • Credit card numbers for “free trials”

  • Personal info for “age verification”

  • Logins or passwords—none of which lead to an actual game stream

These sites never show the game and are entirely fraudulent.

Where to Watch Acalanes Games Safely

Acalanes High School and its Boosters Club remind the community that official game streams are available only through trusted sources:

  • Hudl – Used by Acalanes Athletics for various events (powered by Boosters)

  • Acalanes YouTube Channel – Select varsity games are broadcast with student-run commentary (powered by Boosters) at Acalanes Stadium or Acalanes Gym 

  • NFHS Network – Often used during NCS and CIF playoff and championship games ( note: not all games are covered in playoffs, check before your purchase, ie, Baseball, Softball, LAX, Soccer)

What You Can Do

  • Don’t click on suspicious Instagram links

  • Report fake accounts impersonating Acalanes or its teams

  • Share this warning with fellow students, parents, and fans

Stay vigilant and only use official channels to support Acalanes athletes this season.
