Varsity Girls Lacrosse Falls 17-3 to Carondelet Cougars

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team ran into a buzzsaw on Monday night as they took on the Cougars from Carondelet and fell 17-3. The Cougars were fast and had great stick skills and ball movement. After getting down early, the Dons fought back. The defense, led by Avery Ives, Kelly Todhunter, Claire Zimmerman, and Jasmine Frost who replaced the injured Reese Tierney, played well, as did goalie Addie Martin, who registered twice as many saves (10) as the Cougar goalie. On offense, the goals came courtesy of Jenna Steele on a play where she ran around the goal and scored, Stella Hamilton on an assist from Grace Colaco following a penalty, and Lucca Debiasse on a sweet shot she buried into the upper left hand corner of the net.

Despite the valiant effort, ultimately the 13 draws won for the Cougars (vs. 2 for the Dons) and 29 shots (vs. 13 for the Dons) were too much to overcome.
