Dons Varsity Boys Tennis Team Takes Down the Knights: Acalanes 9, Las Lomas 0

Nine down, one to go.  With the win today, Acalanes improves to 6-3 in league play.  The match Tuesday now gets interesting as we host Northgate at home while Campolindo (8-0) hosts Miramonte (6-3).  A Dons win on Tuesday secures at least a tie for second place.  However, a loss doesn’t necessarily mean we slip to third place.  We have to wait and see how Miramonte fairs.   If Miramonte loses, we are guaranteed a tie for second place.  It’s starting to feel like the NBA play-in confusion.  I say the Acalanes boys just get the win Tuesday and seal the deal.

Today was another gorgeous day weather-wise.  The entire team made the trip to Las Lomas.  Because of the level and experience difference, I was able to rest team’s #1 Owens and #4 Shah.  As expected, the scores were pretty lopsided in the favor of the Dons squad, so I never even had to reach for my heart medication this afternoon.   I’m not going to single out any players today as all twelve did their jobs extremely well and we did not drop a set.

As a reminder to all players and parents, Tuesday, April 23, is the last league home match for our seniors.  Hard to believe, but Tucker Brewer, Diego Ledezma, Ace Reeder, Will Lofting, Quincy Patterson and Spencer Tantameng will be leaving us this year thus completing their high school tennis careers.  Immediately following the Northgate match, we will stick to our Acalanes tradition of celebrating our seniors with food and an opportunity for each of them to take the floor with speeches.  All the parents/families are invited and encouraged to stay and participate with the boys.  For those that made it out to Las Lomas today, as always, I thank you so much.  Our loyal fan base is second to none.  Go Dons!  Coach Rick
