Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team Fall to Cal High 10-8  in a Friday Night Deluge

The boys lacrosse team plays in rain or shine. Or in Friday night’s case, atmospheric rivers. The Dons faced off against the Cal High Grizzlies who came out strong with 2 quick goals in the first quarter. The Dons answered back with goals from Brody Darin and 2 from Jan Korzeniowski to tie the game 3-3 at the quarter. The second quarter the Dons dominated the offense with 3 more goals from Korzeniowski who would finish the night with an impressive double hat trick, while the Dons held the Grizzlies to just one goal with great defense from Collin Malmquist and Henry Finegold. In the third quarter Cal High came fighting back and eventually took the lead in the 4th quarter. With 8 minutes left the Dons were down 2 goals. They had a few opportunities late in the game to score and mount a comeback but at this point, the Dons were battling a resilient Cal High team and the hardest rain of the evening, making it difficult to maintain footing and get off clean shots. Parents braved some tough conditions to cheer on the Dons with soaked jeans and umbrellas turned upside down from the brutal winds. Others stayed at Metro to receive text updates on the game. Safety first!
