JV GIRLS LACROSSE CONTINUE THEIR IMPRESSIVE DEMOLITION OF THEIR OPPONENTS WITH ANOTHER TWO VICTORIES INCLUDING ONE OVER CAMPO!

The Acalanes Girls JV Lacrosse team improved their record this week to 9 wins and 0 losses after defeating Campolindo 8 to 3 and Bishop O’Dowd 16 to 2. Both Campo and O’Dowd scored two goals in the last two minutes of their games when the Dons stopped pressing otherwise neither game would have been that close. Both games were incredibly one sided as the running Dons just basically ran both teams off the field. Almost every player (37) that were in attendance played in both games.

ACALANES 8 AND CAMPO 3

The Dons started out with the first six goals and leading 6 to zero never looked back as they cruised to an 8 to 3 victory over a very aggressive and good Campo team. Because of injuries and other commitments the Running Lady Dons were without 4 of their starters but it did not matter one bit as other players stepped up.

The Dons Defense and Goalies were impenetrable per usual. Goalies Sarah Hessian and Addison Mandell combined for 9 saves with Sarah having seven of them herself!

Defenders Edie Berzansky (she have four ground balls controlled), Julia Lyons, Maddie Obertello, Reese Westphal and Zoe Braunstein along with midfielder Addie Macshane formed a wall around the goal and would not allow the Cougars to score until the last few minutes of the game. Campo came in with an offense that had scored 18 goals in their previous game and was four and one on the season but not this night in the Dons House. They were blanked for 90 percent of the game!

The offense also did their part in building up a lead that was 7 to 0 at one point in the fourth quarter. Leading the way was Christina Hageboeck with four goals and two loose ground balls. Maya Stafford, Taylor Mikalis, Kate Beaver, Kate Uffleman, Lucy Thomas and Reiney Fish kept the pressure on with goals, assists and ground balls to help the Dons out to a comfortable lead that really never got close.

The JV Dons clearly caged the Coug’s in this one and never let them out! They were sent back to Moraga with the “L”! .

ACALANES 16 AND BISHIOP O’DOWD 2

Last night the Dons went to Bishop O’Dowd to play a well coached team of 35 players from O’Dowd. However they really never were a test for them AMAZING JV Lady Dons. The Dons scored six goals in the first seven minutes. The Dons had a 10 to 0 lead at halftime and 16 to 0 with 3 minutes to go in the game.

There were so many stars for the Dons against BOD. It started with the middies who won every draw by grit and hustle with Maya Stafford and Grace Eppinger each winning 5 and Taylor Mikalis winning four. Kate Uffleman had three assists, a goal and four ground balls, Kate Beaver scored four goals, Christina Hageboeck had three goals and three assists, Ella Culbertson and Taylor Micklas had two lightening goals, and Stella Pacheco, Maya Stafford, and Cate Mercier all scored also. The passing in this game between the players was phenomenal. It was completely controlled by the Dons. Other offensive contributors included Eloise Greeson, Grace Hayes, Yali Avarahami, Stella Degroot and Kinneri Vivek.

The Defense was perfect until the last few minutes. All Dons players were fantastic and played a role in causing turnovers and stopping the O’Dowd Offense. The were great performances by Zoe Braunstein, Katelyn Weiss, Persephone Quine, Mollie Jones, Ruby Bogan, and Taryn Stevenson. A few special mentions must go to Edie Berzanski, Julia Lyons, Reese Westphal and Maddie Obertello. This defense never quits and works the entire game. Led by their Goalie Sarah Hession who had another great game.

These Running JV Lady Dons play as team and seem to communicate so well on and off the field. This game was a relaxing victory because they do play so well together. Cant wait to the do on Friday night against the Miramonte Mats. Lets hope we can win our 10th game in a row to start the season! I know they can!

GOOOOOO DONS!
