Varsity Lacrosse Falls to Berkeley Yellowjackets 11-2

Tuesday night the boys varsity lacrosse team faced a formidable opponent in Berkeley High. The Dons put up a strong defense in the first half holding the Jackets to just 3 goals. Acalanes had several wins at the face off thanks to junior Ian Sanftner, frosh Grant Condy, and junior Levi Mason which gained them valuable possession time but a plucky Berkeley goalie made it difficult to score all night.

Can we talk about the two freshman for a moment? Defensive midi Grant Condy and Caleb Mason fought hard all game long on both sides of the field. Their stick skills, tenacity and general lacrosse instincts have made for impressive contributions throughout the season. And junior Henry Finegold played aggressive defense throughout the game.

Dons’ Sophmore Jan Korzeniowski score an unassisted goal in the third quarter followed by a beautiful goal from Junior Brody Darin in the fourth but the aggressive Berkeley offense did not let up, pulling away in the second half.

While the Dons were not able to smoke out the Yellowjackets , they will take what they can from this loss and and put it behind them. They now turn their attention to their cross-town rival Campolindo this Friday night. Let’s go get ’em Dons!
