JV LADIES LACROSSE MAKES IT THREE DOMINATING WINS IN A ROW TO START THE SEASON

The Acalanes JV Girls Lacrosse team, outran, out hustled and outlacrossed another opponent on Tuesday at home. The young scrappy runnin’ Lady Dons did it again!

The Dons played a good team from San Marin High that were returning six starters versus the Lady Dons that have no returning starters but do have incredible players.  The Dons won the game 15 to 4 (it was 11 to 1 at Half Time).  The Dons beat San Marin up and down the field.  Once again all of those players in attendance (approximately 30) got some playing time.   The players literally battled from the opening minute going after every ground ball, hounding San Marin on defense and moving the ball around the field so quickly that SMH could never catch up.  The Dons Jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back.

There are way too many highlights to list them all but here are a few:  Reiney Fish on defense stole the ball and took it coast to coast for an unassisted goal; Christina Hageboeck scored four goals and could not be stopped; the ground ball machine Taylor Mikalis grabbed at least 7 ground balls; the lightening quick play of Grace Eppinger, Maya Stafford, Kate Beaver, Kate Uffelman, Eddie Berzanski, Julia Lyons, Maddie ObertelloReese Westphal and Addie McShane, caused many turnovers, scored many goals and had several assists.  The team really also relied on the steady play from Ella Culbertson, Samantha Swift, Emme Martin, Zoe Braunstein and Kaitlynn Weiss. The Goalies Sarah Hession and Addison Mandell once again had stellar performances.   First year player Cate “the Rookie” Mercier scored another Goal.  She has clearly earned a nickname in such a short time.  The team also had significant contributions from all of new players in attendance including Molly Jones, Stella Pacheco, Grace HayesSvea Staino, Persephone Quine, Ruby Bogan, Taryn StevensonYali Avrahami, Kenneri Vivek, and Willa Wolcott.

This was a huge win against a team that the Dons barely beat last year.  It was a performance for the ages with a major decisive upset of an exceptional  team.  There is something very special about these JV Ladies.  Can’t wait to see them play the rest of the Season!

GOOOOOO DONS!
