Girls Varsity Basketball Assumes First Place in League

On Monday the girls traveled to Walnut Creek for a match-up with Berean Christian and their Cal-bound post.  With our girls short handed (injuries) a challenge was expected, however, it never materialized thanks to an explosive first half performance.  The combination of the full court and an offensive explosion by Dulci Vail (yes it did appear Cal offered the scholarship to the wrong girl!) in the first half turned the game into a rout.  At halftime it was 45 to 10 Dons.  The 2nd half was slow and anticlimactic as the girls coasted to victory.  Dulci Vail was the high scorer with 19, KK Lacanlale had 17, Natalie Frechman added 8 and Sofia Fernandez scored 7 points.  Also of note Addi Ames did a great job on Berean’s star post.  Final score Acalanes 61,  Berean 22

Wednesday it was on to Miramote for a match-up of undefeated teams in league.  Once again the Lady Dons were very short handed.  It took a while to finally crack the Mats 1-2-2 zone, but in the end the girls prevailed for a comfortable 56 to 40 victory in a very physical game.  Dulci Vail was the high scorer with 23 points, while both Natalie Frechman and KK Lacanlale scored 9 points.  The win put the Dons in sole possession of first place at 8-0.
