Varsity Boys Hoops Comes Up Short Against Santa Fe Christian 52-37, Play Ramona Today at The Holiday Classic in San Diego

The Varsity Boys took their show on the road for the second year in a row to The Holiday Classic in Torrey Pines.  First round was a tough matchup against a very hot and much higher ranked Santa Fe Christian team.  I’ll be working overtime the next four days so take it easy on me if the reporting just isn’t as detailed as it normally is.

Buckets were hard to come by early as the Eagles held a 7-4 lead at the end of the first and were up four 22-18 at the half.  Liam Krackeler had 7 points and Cameron Hood had 5 points while Preston Hilsabeck added 3 rebound and 2 assists.  Brycen Mackenzie (#11) had 11 points for the Eagles.  Dons were a perfect 7/7 from the line which helped keep it close.

Dons got off to a bad start in the third as Brycen hit two quick three’s and assisted another hoop to put us down 10.  We were not able to recover and were down 43-27 going into the fourth.

The lead ballooned to 23 midway through the final period before some nice minutes from Cameron, Preston, JB  Frolich, Jake Elerts and Conor Hession to claw back some of the deficit for the 52-37 final.

Cameron was awesome in this game, putting up 14 points in 17 minutes on 4/8 shooting and 3/6 from three.  Preston had 4 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 13 minutes.  Liam finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block.  For the Eagles, Brycen finished with 26 points on 10/20 shooting with 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Dons will face Ramona (6-7) today at 12:40pm at Francis Parker High School.  That’s the beauty of the mulit-day tournaments you get to move on quickly and get another chance to get the W.  All games broadcast live on BallerTV: Click Here
