The Dons Girls Varsity Soccer team dominated in their game against Deer Valley from the start. In the first 30 seconds of the game, midfielder Reese Tierney dribbled past defensive players to take a strong shot on goal. With the Dons in complete control of the game, Tori Hiatt crossed the ball to Taylor Mikalis who headed our first goal of the game (1-0). Lucca DeBiasse then scored our second goal with a strong shot from the left wing (2-0)…all in the first five minutes of the game. The Dons showcased their passing skills and quick footwork on offense until Ella Thomason booted the ball into the back right corner of the goal to mark goal #3 (3-0). Leila Hamidi completed a full out sprint defensive takeaway to stop Deer Valley’s #8 from scoring. With more game control and passing, Stella Hamilton was fouled from behind as she took a shot on goal; Sisi Houston took the penalty. The half ended with an assist from Taylor Mikalis and a beautiful shot and goal by Zoya Acuna(4-0).
The second half of the game saw some action with a cross from Lucca for a one touch shot and goal by Livi Foster (5-0). Ultimate game domination continued with a through ball from Reese for a shot and another goal by Livi (6-0). Loads more offensive passing and build up plays by the Dons until Lucca had a gorgeous breakaway goal (7-0) followed by a perfect through ball pass by Reiney Fish and pretty goal by Megan Yee (8-0). Our team’s mercy rule kicked in at that point, and our lady Dons continued to pass and build up to many more goal opportunities to end the game 8-0.
The Dons face league rival Benicia at home on Tuesday at 7pm and Berean Christian away on Thursday at 3:15pm. Go Dons!
