The Acalanes Frosh/Soph team continued their win streak in a 2-0 victory over Piedmont on Saturday on a surprisingly cold but blue sky morning. The Dons controlled the game from the start and kept the Piedmont goalie busy with a number of shots in the first few minutes of the game. Hannah Hoover scored the first goal on a 70 yard run and shot on goal that was initially blocked by the goalie but knocked in on a follow up shot. Mila Ellis was injured shortly before the half (we hope she is OK) on a foul on Piedmont inside the goal box which resulted in a low fast penalty shot to the left corner of the goal taken by Caroline Tumilty and the second goal of the game.
Svea Staino, Madison Bernstein, Hannah Hoover, and Riley Zirkel continued to play hard and had several nice shots on goal in the second half. Cassidy Smith played excellent soccer in the mid field and Natalie Hamill stopped Piedmont in their tracks whenever they managed to get the ball to the Acalanes half of the field.
Frosh/Soph Girls Soccer will be back in action as they take on the Ugly Eagles on Saturday, December 16th at 2pm at Clayton Valley Charter High School. Go Dons!
