The Dons came back from the Thanksgiving break to take on the Dragons in a pre-season scrimmage on their home turf in Oakland on Monday night.

Bundled up on the bleachers, we watched a really close game unfold under a beautiful full moon. Our keeper Sara Tarnai executed multiple saves in the first half with solid defense by Tori Hiatt, Leila Hamidi, Edie Berzansky, and Zoya Acuna. Sisi Houston had a nice shot on goal from the right wing, but the first half ended with a no score tie.

Our Varsity Dons came out strong in the second half with Stella Hamilton landing the ball in the net but called off sides. Unfortunately the Dragons answered with a goal of their own to take the lead 1-0. Lots of great defense by Leila, Avery DeMent, Zoya, & Tori, and multiple saves by keeper Melisa Adatepe held the Dragons to just the one goal. On offense we had through balls by Ella Thomason, Sisi, & Reese Tierney, who fed another pass to Stella making it into the net but again called off sides!

The Dons made a strong showing tonight with solid teamwork setting the stage for a great season, but gave this one up to the Dragons. The Dons have their first pre-season match on Wednesday night away at Alameda High School.
