Varsity Girls Tennis: Dons Face Tough Cougar Team

On Thursday the Varsity Girls Tennis team traveled the short distance to Moraga to take on a tough Campolindo Cougar team. There were a couple of very tight matches, but the Dons fell short on winning the overall match with a 3-6 score (note: 6 singles and 3 doubles play in normal league matches).

In singles play, Line 3 Grace Colaco pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 win and Line 4 Sienna Moise had a very close match resulting in a 7-6, 7-6 win. There were some really great points in both of these matches! Nicole Parlett also had a super tight fight at Line 6 (6-4, 7-5, 5-10), but fell just short of the W.

The third win for the Dons came from the doubles team of Jacqueline Kuhner and Jadith LaBonge at 6-4, 6-2. Both teams cheered on a very long and close match that involved doubles team Anna MacLeod and Lilou Picard. They narrowly missed a victory with 6-7, 6-7 sets…tie breakers in both! Anna and Lilou were awarded players of the match!

Exhibition play included Lauren Foster and Ridhi Patel who ended up falling short at 5-8 and Hanna Wisniewska and Emily Jones at 2-8. Exhibition matches typically involve one eight game super set.

Girls Tennis will take on Northgate next on Tuesday at home. Come and cheer them on beginning at 4:00!
